Leslie is responsible for ACCION’s program performance and oversees lending, portfolio quality and client service activities.
She joined the ACCION team in 2005 and led marketing and public relations efforts, new staff recruitment, and training for the organization before working as a member of the lending and collection teams.
Leslie began her career as a print journalist. She worked for The Associated Press and The Albuquerque Tribune and was a contributor to Reuters, The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times. The Albuquerque native also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in El Salvador, working on local community development efforts in Puerto El Triunfo, Usulutan.
Leslie has her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management Executive MBA program and was a 2011 young alumni inductee into Anderson’s Hall of Fame. She received her Bachelor's at UNM, graduating summa cum laude with a dual major in journalism and political science.
Named one of the state’s top Forty under 40 by the New Mexico Business Weekly in 2008, Leslie was honored as one of the Business Weekly’s Women of Influence in 2010. Her journalism work earned national recognition from the Associated Press Managing Editors in 2004 as a runner-up for the John L. Dougherty Award and a 2001 Pulitzer Prize nomination by Tribune senior editors.
Among her community activities, Leslie is a board member for Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation, the Anderson School of Management’s Alumni Council, and UNM’s Hank Trewhitt Memorial Scholarship Fund. She volunteers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is a member of United Way’s Women in Philanthropy.
