As marketing and communications specialist, Marisa is responsible for the overall quality and effectiveness of Accion’s communications, marketing and public relations efforts.  Marisa has been a member of the Accion New Mexico • Arizona • Colorado team since 1996. Her previous role with ACCION was that of executive vice president, and Marisa recently oversaw Accion’s expansion to serve entrepreneurs in Arizona.     

In 2005, the New Mexico Business Weekly named Marisa among the top Forty Under Forty business figures in the state. The U.S. Small Business Administration honored Marisa with the New Mexico Financial Services Advocate of the Year Award in 1999. Marisa is a former board member of the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), a national association of over 400 microenterprise development programs in the United States.

Marisa received her Master's degree in public affairs from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1996. She earned her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of New Mexico, graduating summa cum laude.
