PRESBYTERIAN HEALTH PLAN PROPELS ACCION’S BRIDGES TO BETTER HEALTH CARE

PRESBYTERIAN HEALTH PLAN PROPELS
ACCION’S BRIDGES TO BETTER HEALTH CARE
Contribution Supports Educational and Research Program for Entrepreneurs

Albuquerque, N.M. (March 4, 2008) – Presbyterian Health Plan and ACCION New Mexico are expanding their partnership to support New Mexico entrepreneurs who lack affordable health insurance with a new $35,000 donation from the health plan that will fund research exploring insurance coverage gaps among ACCION clients.

The contribution to the nonprofit small business lender expands ACCION’s Bridges to Better Health program, which was launched in 2006 to get information on affordable health-care options into the hands of ACCION clients. Presbyterian Health Plan has served as the premier sponsor of the statewide initiative, which has featured workshops on areas concerning client’s health and well-being.

ACCION New Mexico Vice President of Advancement Lynn Trojahn said the partnership will strengthen the Bridges to Better Health initiative. “We are honored that Presbyterian Health Plan has chosen to invest in ACCION’s efforts to foster healthy, sustainable communities across New Mexico,” Trojahn said. “Presbyterian Health Plan understands that building strong and thriving communities happens one healthy family, one healthy business at a time.”

Presbyterian Health Plan’s contribution will also support ACCION’s efforts to increase small business owners’ financial health and well-being. The first financial health workshop of the year is a March 10 luncheon featuring Olena Lacy, assistant secretary to the U.S. Department of Labor under President Clinton. Lacy will share important tips on saving for a brighter financial future during this highlight event for ACCION clients, community partners and supporters.
