ACCION New Mexico ∙ Arizona ∙ Colorado Achieves $30 Million Lending Milestone
Albuquerque, N.M. (Sep. 17, 2010) – ACCION New Mexico ∙ Arizona ∙ Colorado (ACCION) has reached a major milestone in its 16-year history by recently surpassing the $30 million mark in loans disbursed. Since its founding in 1994, ACCION has financed the start-up or growth of nearly 3,000 small businesses through more than 4,600 loans. ACCION’s client businesses report creating or sustaining an estimated 4,646 jobs.
ACCION recently provided a loan to Jammie Ross to help her and her husband, Shane, realize their dream of opening Caked, a bakery specializing in cupcakes and other desserts in northwest Albuquerque. This particular loan pushed ACCION’s lending history past the $30 million milestone, making it a special occasion for both Jammie and ACCION. “I’m thrilled to work with ACCION to start Caked, and so glad I could be a part of ACCION reaching this milestone,” said Ross. “It gives me a wonderful ‘cherry on top’ kind of feeling!” Ross will use her ACCION loan to help with inventory, advertising, furniture and equipment for the new bakery.
For 16 years, ACCION has provided loans to entrepreneurs who could not get the capital they needed from traditional sources because of modest credit needs, lack of the required business or credit history, or limited collateral. Through its partnerships with local banks and organizations, ACCION has supported the local economies of 237 urban and rural communities in New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado.

ACCION is dedicated to helping small business owners create assets, build income, and achieve financial health. The organization offers small business loans between $200 and $150,000 along with training, networking and other support services to those who want to start a business or business owners looking to expand.
