Albuquerque, N.M.(Nov. 22, 2011) – As a holiday shopping season that is critical to so many businesses gets underway, local small business development organization ACCION New Mexico • Arizona • Colorado (ACCION) is reporting significant growth in the amount of credit it has provided to entrepreneurs this year. During the first three quarters of 2011, ACCION has realized a 37% increase in the number of business development loans it has issued compared to the same period last year. The total of those loans, just over $3,000,000, represents growth of 41% over last year.
Vice President of Advancement Lynn Trojahn says, “So far this year we have made 475 business loans and we know that each of these loans is a means for hard-working entrepreneurs to start, operate and grow the small businesses that are so vital to economic well-being and employment in our region.” Trojahn also points out that ACCION’s ability to provide small businesses with the credit they need is made possible in large part through charitable contributions from individuals, including more than 100 of the organization’s clients who have gone on to become philanthropic donors. Trojahn adds, “People throughout our community can play a direct role in supporting economic vitality and employment by making a contribution to ACCION.”
A milestone in ACCION’s growth this year is the organization’s recent disbursement of its 5,000th small business development loan. The loan was issued to support a jewelry design business based in Tucson, AZ.
ACCION is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and business owners fuel income generation, asset creation, employment opportunities and financial success through business ownership. The organization offers business loans between $200 and $300,000 along with training, networking and other support services to those who own or want to start a business.
