Company Increases Financial Support to ACCION New Mexico
State Farm and ACCION New Mexico are expanding their partnership to support New Mexico women who want to start or expand a small business.
State Farm is increasing its financial support to the nonprofit small business lender with a $12,500 contribution for the ACCION Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program (WELead). The program provides mentorship opportunities to ACCION’s women clients who are working toward entrepreneurial success. State Farm sponsored a lunch and stress management workshop May 17 for WELead members. The lunch featured renowned Albuquerque psychologist Dr. Frances Koenig, who led a workshop on managing stress at work and at home.
Having been named the top-rated community development nonprofit organization in the country by Charity Navigator in 2006, ACCION New Mexico breaks down barriers to capital for underserved entrepreneurs and, through initiatives such as the WELead Program, provides support to these hardworking entrepreneurs to boost their opportunity for economic empowerment and lasting success.
“We are very pleased to partner with ACCION in this great venture,” said State Farm Agency Vice President Katinka Bryson. “Small business is the backbone of every community and the WELead program provides a great opportunity for women business owners.”
State Farm is the No. 1 insurer of homes and autos in New Mexico and has a long history of philanthropy in the state, having disbursed tens of thousands of dollars in community grants.
“State Farm understands that building strong neighborhoods and thriving communities happens one family, one business at a time,” said Lynn Trojahn, ACCION New Mexico’s vice president of advancement. “We are honored that State Farm has chosen to invest in ACCION’s award-winning community development efforts so, together, we can foster sustainable communities across New Mexico.”
