Albuquerque, N.M. (Jan. 25, 2012)–ACCION New Mexico • Arizona • Colorado (ACCION) was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from JPMorgan Chase to support the delivery of vital business credit and financial literacy training to 175 more aspiring entrepreneurs and established small business owners in Arizona.
Efforts supported by the grant include on-the-ground outreach and business development training opportunities in the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas, as well as other communities around Arizona. During the one-year grant period, ACCION will provide business development loans to more than 175 entrepreneurs around the state who are expected to create or sustain some 280 jobs through their small businesses.
“ACCION’s programs fit ideally as part of our integrated approach to economic development,” said Joe Stewart, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase in Arizona. “The ACCION donation is part of more than $500,000 in grants we’re making to support the growth and stability of Arizona’s small businesses in underserved communities.”
In partnership with non-profits such as ACCION, Chase is partnering with business schools and community-based lending institutions in Arizona to bring technical and financial resources to small business owners in greater Phoenix, Tucson and around the state.

JPMorgan Chase serves more than 2 million Arizona customers through 303 branches and more than 850 ATMs. Each year, the bank donates about $4 million to local charities to help Arizona’s education, employment and economic infrastructure.
ACCION is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and business owners fuel income generation, asset creation, employment opportunities and financial success through business ownership. The organization offers business loans between $200 and $300,000 along with training, networking and other support services to those who own or want to start a business.
